USS Overton |
By Jeff Pollizzotto |
This model was originally built (in the 80's) for a film project that never got off the ground. It was constructed from a plastic 16mm film can with many cutouts and detail added to the surfaces. Many of the details that were added were taken from old SW kits , typewriter ribbon spools (remember those!) and parts from the spare parts box. K&S brass wire was bent and added to the surfaces to simulate external piping. It was painted in red primer and weathered with Polly-S paints. Lighting was added using grain of wheat bulbs to the rear engines as well as the engines on the underside of the ship. After seeing Rick Overton’s Victorian Spaceships and such in an issue of “Fantasy Modeling” magazine and actually meeting him in the offices of Starlog many years ago, I decided to name the ship after him. |
