This kit is a 1/6 scale original Screamin/Kaiyodo Boba Fett. I bought it at a local hobby shop in about ’98 or ’9 I had it in a garage cabinet for years. I held off building it until I worked up my painting chops. I painted this kit with mostly Testors and some Tamiya acrylics using about every painting technique known to mankind. The chipped layer effect for the helmet and armor was created by using mold builders latex and multiple layers of paint. I also scraped some edges with a hobby knife expose the Aluminum paint. The helmet and armor have 4 layers of paint. The helmet is Floqil primer, Aluminum, Engine Gray, and Dark Green. The body armor is primer, Aluminum, Medium Green and Dark Green. The weathering and shading were done with some dry brushing, but mostly chalk pastels. I try to create detail parts from metal or other materials to add realism. The “darts” on Fett’s knee pads are aluminum tubing. The hoses on his arms are braided hose I ordered from a scale auto modeling supplier. I added the hose on his left arm to match the photo references I had. The spikes on his boots are steel piano wire. The antenna on his helmet is made from a piece of steel sheet. The base was made from a wooden bottom with the deck from a styrene sheet that I scribed and added Death Star panel pieces from a Tie-Fighter kit. I painted the base with an airbrush and shaded it with chalk pastels. The laser blast was an accident. In clamping the deck to the wood after it was painted, it cracked in the middle chipping the paint. I melted the chipped part with a soldering iron and painted it accordingly.
