Slave 1

By Jonathon Adams

This is my AMT Star Wars Slave 1 model kit. I purchased it on-line and built it without any real modifications, (which is amazing since there were so many bent/warped/broken pieces!) The overall fit of the kit was pretty poor in some major areas. The smaller parts fit fine and I believe I can finally make that AstroTurf I've always wanted with all of the flash I removed!

But seriously, it was still a fun kit to build and even more fun to paint. I started with the basic colors I had from some screen-caps and other pics from this gallery and went from there. One thing I really wanted was something different in the engine area (hence the copper). I know it's not exactly canon, but who cares, I like copper (maybe it's my inner-steampunk?)

After the base tones, I weathered with steel and chrome dry-brushes all around the front and skirted area for the chipped paint look. I then used my new favorite charcoal/water wash all over front and back for that grimy ''I get around and apparently space is really dirty'' look. After all was done, just a mist of dull-coat and off to the photo box!
